Born and raised in Michigan, Jen learned to ride in the sand dunes where falling off was fun! Eventually, her competitive spirit got the best of her and horse showing took over. Participating in everything from 4-H, Hunter Jumpers, and the Quarter Horse Circuit, Jen soon specialized in Showmanship and Jr. Hunter Under Saddle. After graduating from the University of Findlay’s Equine Program and training young horses in Texas, Jen moved to Colorado and soon began working at Happy Horse and competing in Horse Trials and Dressage Shows. Jen currently spends most of her time traveling around the state saddle fitting. When she is not horsin’around, Jen is a roadie for her son’s band Yettie and a Zumba extraordinaire.
Having been born and raised in Holland, Michigan, Kathy started riding at a very early age. Her family was into casual riding, and she started western horse showing at age 4. At age 12, she switched over to hunter-jumper competitions throughout the Midwest and Virginia area until she was 19. While at a prep school in Massachusetts, Kathy trained with Denny Emerson and had the opportunity to show in the ASPCA Maclay Medal Finals at Madison Square Gardens. She moved to Colorado in 1998 and transferred to the eventing arena. At present, she still has a horse, but only for occasional riding and he also makes a great lawn ornament.

Theresa Maloof grew up in Iowa, in a family of eight. They had Arabians of the same lineage as she does now, and that is how she met her husband of 24 years. They bred and raised these wonderful horses for many years, which led to exporting several to England. She also has two incredible boys ("not as easy to raise as the horses"). Theresa enjoys her time working with horsey people at the shop and being with her family, friends, and animals. Her most memorable and challenging ride was the 5-day, 275-mile Rocky Mountain Endurance Ride. She says, "What beautiful country we have to ride in......so get out and ride!"

Kristine has lived most of her life in Fort Collins. She recently graduated from Front Range Community College and is excited to begin working on her Bachelors degree in philosophy at Colorado State University. She has been a part of the Happy Horse family since 2008. As she says, “It is where I will always belong.” Kristine has been riding for 14 years, and is very proud of her accomplishments with her 7 year old Buckskin Kokomo whom she trained from the ground up. Although she has meddled in many styles of riding her main passion currently is to become accomplished at Reining.

When Morgan turned 16, the first thing she did was drive to the Happy Horse to turn in a resume. Now 24, Morgan has loved being a part of the amazing evolution of the store into what it is today. Her horse craze began at the age of five, when she became a member of Centennial Pony Club with her Shetland pony, “Spicy.” She was a member of CPC for nearly 20 years, and is an “HA” graduate. She has a much larger horse these days, named “Lory,” whom she still rides and competes in Eventing (when time allows). After graduating from Poudre High, Morgan traveled north to Montana State University in Bozeman, where she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology. She was recently accepted into vet school at CSU, and is hoping to earn her DVM by May of 2013! Although not a Zumba fanatic, she enjoys being outside in the barn, and running in her spare time.

Megan has been with the Happy Horse family since Jen and Kathy have been owners. Her “real” job is teaching 1st and 2nd graders, but she loves working at the Happy Horse, and loves the Happy Horse family even more. Currently Megan rides only for pleasure. She enjoys playing with her Palomino quarter horse who is smarter than her. Besides her 5 horses, she is kept busy by 2 teenage daughters, various other small animals, and Zumbaing regularly. Currently her long-term goals are to become bilingual in Spanish, become a Zumba expert, and of course to be able to do the perfect piaffe and passage!

Kristin Domago has been Happy Horse's bookkeeper for 7 years. She is a life-long student of all things horses and has a background in finance. She has a wonderful husband and 3 daughters who love the outdoors, animals, and music. Kristin says she truly loves her job and feels honored to work with Jen and the other staff members, who put forth an amazing amount of knowledge and work.
